History of Vector Marketing

Vector marketing is the domestic sales arm. It is a business of Cutco Corporation, an Olean, New York based cutlery manufacturer. There are Vector Marketing Corporation and Cutco Cutlery Corporation. They are wholly owned subsidiaries of Cutco Corporation.

A joint venture between Alcoa and Case Cutlery created a company that known as Alcas Corporation. It was completed in 1949. The first set of Cutco Cutlery was shipped to New Kensington. But in 1972, Alcoa purchased Case's share of this company.

In 1981 Vector began as an independent distributor of Cutco Cutlery. And in 1982, in management buyout, members of management purchased the company from Alcoa. A major employer in Cattaraugus County, New York remains privately held.

In 1985 Vector was purchased by Alcas Corporation, and in 1990 then expanded into Canada. In 2011 Vector has contracts about 60,000 student workers each year to perform entry-level sales work and more than 200 offices throughout the United States.
